Ruislip and District Synagogue

Event:

Members of Ruislip synagogue were delighted to welcome Chazan Yossi Saunders and his family into their congregation for ShabbatUK, with him lending his musical services both to the Friday night Ma’ariv service and to an after-dinner Zemirot session. Feedback from some of the 65 attendees presented an overwhelming consensus that the communal dinner did much to foster a sense of togetherness, and that the food was excellently catered. A special Kiddush followed Shacharit the following day.

Evaluation from the Chair of Ruislip:

“Programmes of this kind help to keep the community together as a viable social unit. In the case of Shabbat UK, the programme also gives less observant members the opportunity to participate in a traditional, observant Shabbat meal”

Participant Feedback:

“The Friday Night meal was excellent. The quality of the food was exceptional. The Chazzan was great”.

“Excellent. It was a really lovely evening with a great atmosphere. It was certainly enhanced by the presence of the Chazan, Yossi Saunders. He had a lovely manner, lovely voice and performed a great medley of songs”.

“What an excellent evening, made perfect by having Chazan Yossi Saunders and family with us. There was some beautiful singing by the Chazan, and some sumptuous food surrounded by good company”.

“A great communal success. Wonderful atmosphere and great chazanut”.
