What did we do in 2022?

From ShabbatPacks for primary school children to communal meals, challah makes, beautiful Shabbat Art, scintillating performances of Dror Yikra and the hosting of Seudah Shlishit events over the long Shabbat day, ShabbatUK has reached even greater heights than ever before.

After an unprecedented period, during which synagogues and communal organisations were forced to limit or scale back activities for so long, ShabbatUK ‘In Real Life’ marked an exciting return to in-person Jewish communal activity.

Over 8000 challah makers took part in plaiting and baking delicious challah, including Sajid Javid, who engaged in a Challah Bake-Off alongside Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner.

6000 Jewish primary school children across the country learnt a fun, upbeat version of Dror Yikra, to encourage everyone to sing the traditional Shabbat song at their own tables at home.

And, in a logistical triumph, ShabbatUK provided Shabbat Packs of goodies to 8000 children across the country.

ShabbatUK 2022 would not have been the resounding success that it was  without the dedication and hard work that so many of you put into it. The biggest mass participation event in the Jewish Calendar – just got even bigger! Thank you for being part of it.
